PostSubject: The Annoyance that is Gryta.   The Annoyance that is Gryta. Icon_minitimeSat Sep 19, 2009 7:41 pm

I am:
1. Gryta;
2. a girl;
3. little more than 16 years old;
4. Lutheran;
5. a homophobe;
6. homeschooled;
7. the youngest of four, an aunt of two.

My favorite ____ is/are:
1. genres to write: literary fiction, fantasy (usually high), and science fiction;
2. mode of writing: prose, prose, prose all the way;
3. medium of writing: computer if available, pencil and paper if not;
4. color: orange;
5. music: good music, okay music, and beyond (oh, so specific!);
6. non-writing pastimes: reading, sewing, German, and playing the piano;
7. authors: J. K. Rowling, C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, P. G. Wodehouse, the Brothers Grimm (or rather the people of Europe at that time), Hans Christian Andersen, Gail Carson Levine, Ray Bradbury, Orson Scott Card, Jane Austen, Lewis Carroll, Charles Dickens, George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, Cornelia Funke, Neil Gaiman, Robin McKinley, Shannon Hale, Douglas Adams, William Golding, Harper Lee, Alan Moore, and more, including a number of unprofessional writers. No particular order.

My least favorite ____ is/are:
1. feature: my teeth;
2. school subject: math, though the Spanish class I'm taking this year is a good contender;
3. weather: humid;
4. feeling: nausea;
5. number: five (it's awful);
6. words: "whatev" and other cannibalized words;
7. strangers: those who judge and hypocrites, and because I am the first, I am the second, so I apologize in advance for any thoughtlessness on my part.

Welcome GrytaJME.

It's nice to see a new face on the board, but I do have a warning for you.

There are people of other religions here, and we welcome people of all sexual persuasions and we do at times discuss peices of writing that are adult in nature.

If you don't like that, I'd suggest leaving as no intolerance will be allowed.

Otherwise, we're a friendly bunch, and are glad to see new people to chat to and discuss writing with!

Check out the Regulations and Reasons for being in the Welcome section, and let us know what you're writing about currently, and how you found us!

In saying that I am a homophobe, I'm saying that I'm afraid of homosexuality. It's like saying I'm afraid of heights or that I've got stage fright. I'm not proud of it. I'm trying to become less so. In any case, I don't mean that I hate homosexuals, because that is flat-out untrue.

I think (as a Lutheran) I am very tolerant. I'm merely saying that I hold these beliefs and that is a part of who I am, and that if I do not comment on a piece that is at least partially about homosexuals or homosexuality, it is because it makes me uncomfortable and it would seem unwise for me to give feedback.

Also:
Thank you for the welcome! I'm looking forward to using this forum.

Sooo. Right now I have Writer's Block, which is all in my head, but I use it as a handy excuse. My main project I suppose would be a high fantasy about two warring kingdoms and a prince who kills lots of people. Laughing emoticon. (Oh yeah, I write out what emoticon I want instead of actually using it. Sorry, inside joke.) I'm so eloquent.

And there's my failed JunNoWriMo satire about a boy who lost his hands and goes on a quest to get them back.

Those are both supposed to be novels, but the majority of what I write is short stories, usually between 500 and 5,000 words.

I found you through the NaNoWriMo forums! Ain't that awesome. It's helped me through my only two finished novels ever.

Hmph. I should go to bed. It's not cool to fall asleep during the sermon. (I have experience. Embarrassed emoticon.)

Welcome to the forum GrytaJME. You have a lot of favourite authors there - good taste. As far as the homophobe thing goes, it's quite common for people to be fearful of what they have no experience of, when you meet more people and interact with them, you'll come to realise most people are fundamentally the same. And the understanding and appreciation of people from all backgrounds will make your writing so much better! You'll probably meet some characters here Smile

It's Good to have you here, and hopefully we can help you get past your writers block!

It's good to hear that you're open minded... I consider that an excellent trait in any writer. And don't worry, we won't take it the wrong way if you don't jump into conversation that make you uncomfortable. I always assume that it's better for everyone. That way, no one gets defensive about their work, since it can really be a detriment to the way we look at our writing.

So, if I may ask on here... Exactly what is your story idea for Nano, that requires such a terrible thing to happen to the White House? lol!

Actually, the Jell-O'd White House plan isn't for my NaNoWriMo, it's for one of my many projects that I will probably not finish. And it's an assassination attempt.

Remember the lesson of Nanowrimo though!

The best draft is the finished draft, because at least you can do something with it afterward.

It will be good to see you writing this year!
