Those on the PL will recognize me...yes, the very same Kystar.

Those who aren't on PL...I'm Kystar...Nothing more to say. Been writing what would be constituted as "fan fic" since I was 11. Have written other things too...but haven't really ever wanted to publish.

Just here to see what's up.

Welcome, have a seat, stay awhile.

I'd give more of an intro, but it'll have to wait until my hand's just a bit better. Laughing

Well, right now, I have an account on an Harry Potter archive...but my main character is a world jumper...so she's been almost everywhere I've had interest in. But she originated in Susan Cooper's "The Dark Is Rising" world.

If you REALLY want to read my out there fanfic...I'm DraykaEmrys on hpfandom.net

I don't have much posted...but you're welcome to read it.

How long are your fanfics usually?

I've never written one before. You should post one of your pieces up on the board. I'll have to go and read them regardless.

cheers

Well, it depends on the muse, really. A few of the ones in the works are novella length, but the ones I have posted are short, b/c I don't want to be one of those authors who have like 6 months + between updates.

I'm working on a story right now that takes my world jumper and reworks her so she's NOT a fanfic anymore. I might post a bit of that one, actually.

Um, where would be the best place to post it?

Oh, it was pointed out by hubby that I should warn that some of my fanfic is slash...just so people are aware.

Sounds great Kystar! What's slash Embarassed ? Do you mean a bit bloody and violent?

Slash = same sex relationships.

Usually Slash means m/m and femslash is f/f...but some just denote both as slash.

So long as nothing graphic is going up it shouldn't be a a problem. You might want to put a warning up in the title when you post, so that people know that this fic contains same sex relationships. Other than that, go to town.

I'd suggest putting it up under the Plots (fantasy for HP) or Characterization. Either one will be a good place for them. Hmmm, maybe I should add a section under plots specifically for fanfics... What do you think?

Oh, my fanfic wasn't what I was planning on putting up here...that's over at HPFandom.net...and that's good enough. (though I am building an archive of my own, it's just not ready yet.) I just wanted to put a warning, as I gave my author handle here, so that if you track me down you're not surprised.

I have other stuff I was going to give teasers for...just to see if it's developing ok.

See, I have this character that started as a fanfic jump-in character, and now I'm taking her OUT of fanfic and giving her a world all her own...and I want to see how it's developing.

As for adding a place for fanfic, if enough people are writing it, why not give it its own section entirely? Just toss it in as a category...see how it develops.

I was actually thinking of one chapter or scene each month from a different author here on the site.

That way, we can see in a positive environment if our writing is doing what we want it to, and getting the proper responses from our readers.

If you guys like the idea we can start first thing in October...
